Limited Edition Joey Dunlop replica Arai RX-7 GP

Joey Dunlop was the man when it came to roads and will always be remembered as one of the greatest riders to race at the Isle of Man TT, he will also be remembered for his iconic yellow and black helmet design which has been released in a limited edition tribute to the legendary road racer.

The exact design of the helmet is an authentic replica of the yellow Arai worn by Dunlop in 1985, featuring the classic black lines on a yellow background and his sponsor for that year the Irish radio station ‘Downtown Radio’. 1985 was an important year for Joey, with the Ulsterman taking his first of three hat-tricks at the IOM TT – taking wins in the Junior TT, Formula 1 TT and Senior TT. Before Dunlop in 85 the only person to win three races in a week at the Island was Mike Hailwood.

A legend on and off the track, Joey won 26 races at the Isle of Man TT and had two further hat-tricks in 1988 and 2000. Away from racing Dunlop was heavily involved in charity work taking van loads of aid to orphans around Europe. Sadly, he lost his life competing at Talinn, Estonia in 2000. The impact of Dunlop’s life was evident as his funeral was broadcast live in Northern Island with over 50,000 mourners lining the streets to pay tribute to him.
